Five-run first fuels KC
Five-run first fuels KC Royals. Wow! What a great evening. The weather was perfect. Royals won. I learned about foul ball, ground ball, and that they have the speed of the ball on the Jumbotron. I think 98 MPH may have been the fastest. Lots of foul balls, hmmmm maybe should be called fowl ball the way they were flying. And I acted like everybody else when I was on the Jumbotron. I waved like a every other person (maybe even more, what a dork!). T & G, thanks for inviting us to join you.

Meme me!
Zhu has tagged me. Ten Priceless American Experiences. This is going to be hard. With Quebec so fresh in my mind that would have been easier.
1. Weather: Here in the Midwest the weather is very hmmm, volatile? We have a saying "If you don't like the weather just wait." Because it can change so fast. Freezing & snow one day, and hot & melting the next. We get freezing rain (cold air from Canada & hot from Mexico). We also get tornadoes, so we got this. We also have hot & humid weather. It was 102F a couple of weeks ago. But come winter it can get down into the single digits.
2.Sports: I'm not much into sports myself. But I hear that tailgating is almost as important as the games. When I lived in Canada there were no professional teams in town. Here we have a few: Chiefs (football), Royals (baseball), KC Wizards (soccer).
3 Gates BBQ "May I help you", I hear that's it's really good. (I'm a vegetarian) I do like to go & have their fries & dip them in their sweet BBQ sauce. I haven't been brave enough to try the spicy sauce.
4 Music: Kansas City Blues,19th & Vine, also Bob Walkenhorst from the Rainmakers lives here in Kansas City. It has become tradition for us to celebrate special occasions by having Bob play a request. Wild Thing is our anniversary request.
5. Female senator: Claire McCaskill, Missouri Democrat!! Woohooo!
6. Mexican food: I love it. There are Mexican restaurants all over. But not even a Taco Bell in my home town of Temiscaming.
7. Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ: We introduce all out of town visitors to that restaurant. My favorite!!!
8. Lots of colleges & universities here in Kansas City. Once again, not one in my home town.
9. They are building a Bass Pro Shop in Independence, Mo.,and there is a Cabella's in Kansas City, KS. We've been telling my brother in law about them hoping to get my sister down to visit.
10. Having grown up in Canada I had seen a moose now & then, but never deer. Now I see then frequently, even sleeping in my yard.
Zhu, hope this meets your approval!

Boobies, tatas, jugs, tetons, fun bags
Got your attention didn't I? Well, at least the guys. Friday morning at 8:30am I will be exposing my boobies. Sorry you can't be there. I'm going to a new place & they requested that I get my film & report of my last mammogram. Holy shit Batman! June 2005!! What the Hell ? I could have sworn that I had one last year. I called & verified with my health insurance & we know they should know since they pay for it. I'm hoping for a clean report. I much rather have a mammogram over a Pap test, 100 to 1. Got the results from my Pap. No worries there!
The hubby is sick with a very bad summer cold, and now he has pink eye! Very contagious. I keep telling him to wash his hand. They should look like prunes by now. Poor guy!

Greetings from the North
We have one full day left here in Quebec. The time has passed so fast it's unbelievable. The only thing slow here is the dial up Internet connection! Unfriggin real!
Just got back from my youngest sister's place. J., and her husband & 2 children had us over for supper to celebrate the little princess turning 9 years old. Right! 9 going on 19 more like. Their son, 7 years old, is the actor/comedian in that family. So we were well fed, entertained, and soaked in the hot tub till we were prunes.
We have kayaked, boated, bonfired, slept in, stayed up late, read, ate, taken a few pictures, cooked a Mexican meal, gone to the cemetery on the reservation & cleaned it up a bit, loved up on family & puppies. I have to say that it's been a great holiday with on exception. My middle sister's mother in law had surgery while we are here and found out that she has less than 6 months to live. L., and her hubby are heart broken. C. has been a wonderful mother in law & we all know how hard those can be to come by. Have I told you lately how much I hate cancer?
I had hoped to have a coffee with Zhu while in Ottawa but heard from her too late. Maybe next year...
The hubby found a cottage he would like to buy. Good investment he says. I agree but he better find a really busy corner to work on to raise the money. I did take some photos & got the guy email & phone number. I'll have to posted those once back in Raytown. The water was so close to the cottage that you could underhand toss a rock from the front door to the lake ( Lake Kipawa).
In the morning I start packing & loading the car. Mom will start cooking a Thanksgiving meal, turkey, pumpkin pie and all. It's been good seeing her( 71 years old) as she has been very sick this year, poly myalgia rheumatica. The predisone has really helped her. Every year when I leave I wonder if it may be the last time I see her or any of the rest of my family. We try not to cry but you know how that is. If one starts then the rest follow.
On another note: "Monthly Meetup Info!
What: Monthly Blogger Meetup
When: Tuesday, August 21st - 5 p.m. till whenever you wanna leave!
Where: Charlie Hooper's in Brookside (12 W. 63rd Street, KC, MO 64113)Goodies: $1 domestic draws & $1, $2, and $3 appetizers from 3 - 7 p.m. (Stuff like pizzas, spin dip, and jalapeno poppers...yum!)
Hooper's is ready to give us several tables in the "back section" (really, it's the west side of the restaurant...), and as more people show up they'll give us more tables, and if some leave and they need the tables for other people, we just have to be willing to share, is all. I was assured that we would not be given dirty looks for our comings and goings on, and that the server would be prepared for all of our separate check needs. (Be sure to mention it to them when you arrive, too, though. Just to be nice. :) Hooper's is on the corner of Main St and 63rd St in the heart of Brookside. Just go down Wornall from whichever direction you'll be coming from, head east on 63rd, and turn left on Main. There's a big parking lot behind the strip the bar is located in, so you can park there if you'd like." (blogger meet up info copied from Faith)
Thanks Faith for checking with Hooper's! I'll be there, the hubby has a political meeting to go to. He's sorry he can't make it but knows I'll have a good time.
Bonjour mes amies, je reviens bientot.

I've been outed!
I've been outed! Yup! By my brother in law( Badger). You would think a computer savvy guy like him would would know better. In an innocent conversation with my mother in law/his mom he mentioned that I have a blog. Half way between Kansas City and Rochester, NY I find out. Whathaf.... Quick think have I posted anything that would offend? Fuck, I'm screwed! Like I could do anything about it in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure there were no mother in law rants as she's a keeper. Right Mom? So, I've heard from her (she's computer savvy) and she loves my blog. Welcome Mom to my blog. Sorry for the language. Not going to change.
Side note: How would a Corona beer with lime sherbet taste? Badger in law and I came up with the idea almost at the same time while having dessert tonight.

Ready or Not
I am so ready for a vacation. Mind and body are exhausted. We leave Saturday morning for Rochester, NY to visit the brother in law. Then up Ottawa, Ontario to see some older family members (mes matantes), then going farther north and a bit west to Temiscaming to my family. Today at lunch I went to the library and picked up 9 audio books. Also picked up some Pringle potato chips. Good books & junk food just what you need for a long driving trip. Since we have someone who comes & stays at our house with all our animals we also have to clean the house. Ugh! Fresh linen, wash the rugs, clean bathroom & kitchen, dust... I still have to finish packing. I would much rather blog, read blogs, watch John Stewart, and just general fart around. It's sad that to have a vacation we have to do so much crap. I'm making lists trying not to forget anything. I've even made arrangements with a neighbor who will babysit some of my plants. So tomorrow we will load the truck & drive them to her. I'm trying to make as easy as possible for our animal/house sitter. From Temiscaming to KC it's 1300 miles, one way. We always have fun on the trip. It's some nice together time. With no house, or property chores involved. We will stop for Shakespeare's Pizza in Columbia, Mo on the way up & on the way back. We've been doing that for 22 years.
