We have one full day left here in Quebec. The time has passed so fast it's unbelievable. The only thing slow here is the dial up Internet connection! Unfriggin real!
Just got back from my youngest sister's place. J., and her husband & 2 children had us over for supper to celebrate the little princess turning 9 years old. Right! 9 going on 19 more like. Their son, 7 years old, is the actor/comedian in that family. So we were well fed, entertained, and soaked in the hot tub till we were prunes.
We have kayaked, boated, bonfired, slept in, stayed up late, read, ate, taken a few pictures, cooked a Mexican meal, gone to the cemetery on the reservation & cleaned it up a bit, loved up on family & puppies. I have to say that it's been a great holiday with on exception. My middle sister's mother in law had surgery while we are here and found out that she has less than 6 months to live. L., and her hubby are heart broken. C. has been a wonderful mother in law & we all know how hard those can be to come by. Have I told you lately how much I hate cancer?
I had hoped to have a coffee with Zhu while in Ottawa but heard from her too late. Maybe next year...
The hubby found a cottage he would like to buy. Good investment he says. I agree but he better find a really busy corner to work on to raise the money. I did take some photos & got the guy email & phone number. I'll have to posted those once back in Raytown. The water was so close to the cottage that you could underhand toss a rock from the front door to the lake ( Lake Kipawa).
In the morning I start packing & loading the car. Mom will start cooking a Thanksgiving meal, turkey, pumpkin pie and all. It's been good seeing her( 71 years old) as she has been very sick this year, poly myalgia rheumatica. The predisone has really helped her. Every year when I leave I wonder if it may be the last time I see her or any of the rest of my family. We try not to cry but you know how that is. If one starts then the rest follow.
On another note: "Monthly Meetup Info!
What: Monthly Blogger Meetup
When: Tuesday, August 21st - 5 p.m. till whenever you wanna leave!
Where: Charlie Hooper's in Brookside (12 W. 63rd Street, KC, MO 64113)Goodies: $1 domestic draws & $1, $2, and $3 appetizers from 3 - 7 p.m. (Stuff like pizzas, spin dip, and jalapeno poppers...yum!)
Hooper's is ready to give us several tables in the "back section" (really, it's the west side of the restaurant...), and as more people show up they'll give us more tables, and if some leave and they need the tables for other people, we just have to be willing to share, is all. I was assured that we would not be given dirty looks for our comings and goings on, and that the server would be prepared for all of our separate check needs. (Be sure to mention it to them when you arrive, too, though. Just to be nice. :) Hooper's is on the corner of Main St and 63rd St in the heart of Brookside. Just go down Wornall from whichever direction you'll be coming from, head east on 63rd, and turn left on Main. There's a big parking lot behind the strip the bar is located in, so you can park there if you'd like." (blogger meet up info copied from Faith)
Thanks Faith for checking with Hooper's! I'll be there, the hubby has a political meeting to go to. He's sorry he can't make it but knows I'll have a good time.
Bonjour mes amies, je reviens bientot.

I'll be there! Spyder, thanks for getting the ball rolling on this!
I'm so sorry I missed you... My email is on the blog sidebar but granted, it's not obvious. Meanwhile, I had a lot going on (I'll tell you by email) and fail to reply right away by the time I got your email. Silly me... :(
Now, I'm gonna have to go to the USA and say hi next time just to be forgiven !
I hope you enjoyed Québec anyway. It's such a nice place in the summer, you timed your holidays perfectly.
Sorry again !
I wouldn't be in a hurry to leave the land of the windchill factor. F**kin' hot down here!
Zhu- No worries! You are welcome to come visit anytime!
