What a day!

9:30am - noon : Hubby & I went to St. . Francis Xavier church to hear Father Robert Kennedy Roshi, a Jesuit priest. The lecture was about Zen & Christianity. I was very good. I'll be looking for his books.

Afterwards, Hubby headed over to some friends to clean their gutters. The husband can't do ladders. I ended up going to XO's garage sale. Let's just say that I picked up a few things for the hubby (Don't look for them ! I have hidden them.). I can't believe I forgot the $50 thing. A few more well chosen purchases & I could have gotten "a big, wet, sloppy, passionate kiss." Damn! missed my chance. But then I didn't see him kiss the two men that made purchases while I was there. Not that I can't blame him!!!

On another note: Ladies, I was in XO's bedroom! Wow what a bed! Perfect to tie someone to, love those four posts beds. I did not see any underwear on the floor, so we still don't know boxers or tighty whities.

I did do some other shopping, and headed over to spend the evening with some girlfriends. Must go to bed . I'm exhausted!

Good movie!

The hubby & I just finished watching The Station Agent. We give it 2 thumbs up. Very cute movie about relationships. Netflix will freak when we return it. We've had it for a couple of months. March of the Penguins is next!

My response

Went to Emawkc at 3 o'clock am. I read his post about TKC, so I moved on to read TKC. I have to say that I've experienced a varied bunch of emotions. Anger at TKC, happiness from the blogger friends I've made, sadness from Greg's death... Here's my post that I left at 3 o'clock am.

That is the last fucking time I read TKC! Life's too short. Fucktard! Greg had it. We loved it. Tony wants it's. But he don't got it. And he never will. At the last blogger gathering (Gov Stumpy's)that Greg was at Greg actually wondered if he was the only black blogger in KC. I didn't care what color Greg was. And I don't think that our color mattered to Greg. He was funny, his writing/language was creative. He shared himself with whom ever ran across his blog. And then he shared himself with us at the blogger gatherings. I miss him. He was a part of my life. TKC wants to belittle the bloggerfriendships we have. All he has accomplished is to show me how dear they are to me. Maybe once a month is not enough to see friends.

Need to get off my ass & get moving

Hubby is having his gaming buddies over on Sunday. They're a nice bunch. Hmm... Are they geeks, dorks, or nerds?

Today we clean house then I'm heading out with a girlfriend to check out the UnPlaza Art Fair.

Cool Non-Nerd???

Good thing they didn't have blog type questions. I would have scored high on the nerdiness test then!

My blogging type?

Your Blogging Type is Unique and Avant Garde

You're a bit ... unusual. And so is your blog.
You're impulsive, and you'll often post the first thing that pops in your head.
Completely uncensored, you blog tends to shock... even though that's not your intent.
You tend to change your blog often, experimenting with new designs and content.

Merrill Beck ????

Daily, I look for Greg Beck's obit. Today, I found Merrill Beck. Who is Merrill? He's 86 years old. "He loved square dancing with his bride of 66 years, Vida Ruth, with the "Dirty Dozen" square dance group." I don't think he's our Greg. Merrill sounds like a nice old white man, who was happily married, and lived his life to his version of the fullest. Certainly not Greg's version. But then who could?

Greg Beck flipped our switch!

Greg Beck's Deaths Door was one of my very first blogs that I read. I was hooked. He was my crack. Get your mind out of the gutter, that's not what I meant. I was addicted. I had to read his blogs. He made me laugh, sometimes so hard I cried. God knows a person needs good laughs. And I think God sent him to teach us. So we will try to make Greg proud of us.

Last time I saw Greg Beck we were at blogger meet up at Governor Stumpy's. He was wondering if he was the only black blogger since he is the only one that we all knew about. Now there is no one representing.

I met Greg at my first blogger meet that he & Michelle of Well hell Michelle had organized at Harry's in the River Market. I got a big bear hug from him right off. I felt like was meeting a celebrity. He was gracious & kind to myself, a new blogger. Even with his colorful language he was a gentleman. I was looking forward to future blogger meets where we could get to know him more on a face to face basis.

Greg, you're one in a million. I respect you enormously. I will miss you.

Can the hubby ever swing his tool!

The hubby started last weekend & completed this weekend a low deck over some cracking concrete. It was my idea to have the deck boards at an angle, lots more work but he agreed that it would look great that way. He rocks!

On another note, I saw a small ( 10 inches) black snake go into my flower bed right next to the front door. Shit! Now I have to be careful what I grab when I'm gardening. 4 freaking acres and it has to pick my flowerbed!

The hubby would rather NOT be knitting!

Last December, I got a license frame that said "I would rather be knitting". In fact, I got one each for my four knitting girlfriends. The hubby refused to put it on my car since every now & then he has to drive it. Mind you he is one of the most liberated men I know. But the license frame seems to be the tilting point. So while on vacation in Canada I had one of my wonderful brother in laws install the frame. No, not his brother, Badger. This was the brother in law who's house we stayed at while up there. Weeelllll, the other day I had to leave early for a meeting and that day he was going out to lunch to meet up with some buddies. Suddenly he's all "Go ahead & leave. I'll drive myself. blah, blah, blah, not ready, need to take shower blah, blah...". I didn't think about it until later that afternoon. He didn't want to drive my car to lunch. Busted! Rosey Grier is more macho than my hubby!

Labor Day Weekend

Friday: This has been a great weekend staying in town. Friday evening a quick supper at Taco Bell, then on to Lowe's. We (read the Hubby) are building a low deck.

Saturday: Hubby fixed a kitchen cabinet drawer rail that the broke. I went & picked girlfriend up for lunch & introduced her to Jalapenos. Love their food. Then we headed to Crown center for the Irish Fest. $10 a person! But $5 for seniors. So I whipped out my AARP card. $5 is $5! I don't consider myself a senior but when I turned 50 in January I joined AARP. This was the first time I was able to use my card. Sweeeet! Great music, beautiful things to buy. We also did some window shopping inside Crown Center. We took a break to sit for a bit & I had frozen mocha coffee from Einstein Bros. After checking the rest of the booths we headed for Half Price Book Store. Called the hubby to check in & he had me look for what he called a "graphic novel". It's a freaking comic book. OK there wasn't anything comic about this one. But you get my meaning.

Sunday: The hubby tackled HUGE truck load of boards Sunday morning and started the deck. I cleaned housed. Ugh! We had our good friend. Dirk, come over for supper. He's been studying nursing in Portland, Oregon. We had a Canadian breakfast, blueberry pancakes & real maple syrup made by my family, sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and chunk cheese. Damn that was good! Then later we had pumpkin pie (premade, but I baked) still warm& cool whip. Great conversation & a full stomach.

Monday: Hubby has worked on the deck all day. We did have another trip to Lowe's for more wood. It's looking awesome. I'm doing laundry. Boring! Hubby came down with heat sickness so we packed away the tools. I had him shower & took him out for good Chinese food ( Master Wok off 40 Hy). He's feeling better now. We realized that we both had not eaten lunch & it was after 7pm. He has a few more hours of work on the deck, but 90% is done. We really have made a lot of changes on the place. Thank God hubby is handy & has done quite a bit himself. Watched some "Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations" on the Travel Channel, on & off all day between loads of laundry. I could never eat the stuff he eats but love the places he goes. If you've never watched him do so!
