A few weeks ago I had to go to the dentist for a crown. I'll tell you right up front I HATE going to the dentist. I HATE needles and all the other stuff. I had to take 2 Valium, happy gas & shots. Hubby Kanga had to drive to & back since I was doped up.
Today, I had to go my dentist to replace my crown. This time I went by myself since no needles should be involved. I left work at 3pm for a 3:30pm appointment. Once I was in the chair the dental assistant removed my temporary crown & cleaned/scrapped the cement off. I was doing well. Then I had to wait in the chair for over an hour while the dentist, who was to install the new crown, worked on at least 2 other patients. My anxiety started building. I got mad. I got impatient. Yes, I don't have a PHD, but my time is just as important. I started to tear up as I do when emotional. I mentioned to the assistant that it had been over an hour. She could tell I was upset. I was trying so hard to hold it together. I couldn't talk, I couldn't look at him. I closed my eyes trying to get my shit together. Tears rolling down my face. Mad at myself for crying, ashamed. At least I wasn't sobbing. He apologized a couple of times and asked "How can I make it up to you?". I said I couldn't talk right now. He gave me his cell number to call him tonight. I told him that I couldn't talk tonight. He said for me to call him tomorrow. I said I didn't know. It was 5:45pm. I cried all the way home. How can he make it up to me? How do you measure my anxiety? My anger? My shame? My tears? How?

Google Reader
After a couple of evenings with my boyfriend/my laptop I am now Google Reader active!!!Woohooo! Last night I loaded you all in it. Tonight I figured out that I had to go & mark your post as having read them. I can tell it work as Heather & XO posted after I had marked them as read. There they were bold as night! It lives! Somewhere during all the computer shit that has been going down my blogrolling icon has disappeared from my tool bar along with my RSS Feed icon. I hope they live happily ever after. I haven' had the time to add Average Jane & So Many Books to my sidebar. TKC has asked: "Are you still mad at me? Can a brother get a link?" I'm thinking about it. He could seal the deal by showing up at a blogger gathering & being our token Latino! LOL I just don't think he likes to have fun. And we know how to have fun.
So what other nifty tool are you keeping secret from me? Hope Google Reader works as good as y'all have said.

37!!! I counted them.
Kanga & I worked in the yard this weekend. We now have flowerbeds on the west side of the house. Kanga installed green metal edging. We amended the soil with manure, peat moss. I planted 37 hostas. We are sore & tired. But it looks great. I tried to take photos put the camera didn't cooperate. Maybe tomorrow. I'm glad it's done. It was a lot of work.
This week I will look at Google reader.

Saturday Holy Mariachi!
We were invited to Theresa Garza, and Genaro Ruiz's wedding. It was at the Town Pavilion, and officiating was Emmanuel Cleaver. Beautiful wedding! At one one point, we were on the dance floor when some fast Latin music started. Needless to say we went & sat down. In the past I would have stayed & danced but I'm too old & slow now. Hubby, Kanga, had a glass of wine. I stuck with water. I had enough excitement the night before. We were so pleased to to be part of the celebration.
Friday fright night
The fright wasn't at the party. More later.
The party was at Dan (of Gone Mild) & his lovely wife. Dan had kegged some of his home brew. It was a maibock (if you want more info on that go to his blog). All I can say that it was good. Now, the jello shots by Kristine/Filegirl were not as smooth going down! Not that it stopped us. I do know I had at least 5. Also, she took a bunch of photos, and has a good recap of the party. I won't bother to recap but will list those in attendance.
Dan/Gone Mild & wife
Kristine/Filegirl & Rodney (hubby?)
Janet/Ramblings, Rants and Mommy-hood & Keith/Sader Family
Heather/General Blather
XO/Hip Suburban White Guy & girlfriend
Michelle/Well Hell Michelle & hubby Eric/Dangerblog
Toast/The M. Toast Hivemind
Myself/Spyder & my hubby Kanga/Beneath the Ginko
Two new additions to our blogger gatherings:
Celeste/Average Jane
So Many Books, So Little Time: A Year in Reading
Nightmare did call me to let us know he wasn't going to make it. We had a great time. But we did miss all those that couldn't make it.
Now for the fright! On our way home to Raytown we were stuck in a DUI check point. I must remind you that I had a jello shot just a bit before leaving. Streets were blocked so you couldn't avoid being funneled into the one lane. I'm thinking Oh Shit! My heart was racing!!!! Thank God we didn't stay 1/2 hour longer. They were still setting up & weren't stopping anybody YET! I wasn't drunk, but did have some alcohol in my system. Damn that was close!

Here goes
Here goes a series of posts regarding the weekend. I think each event is so different and unique that I should make separate posts for them.
I've been fighting with my boyfriend all week! For those of you who haven't met my boyfriend yet it's my laptop. I've had issues with not being able to update the virus protection that comes with SBCGlobal. Something about a missing LUALL.EXE file. All freaking week! I now have that problem resolved. Yippee! Now the problem is my home email seems to have eaten all my RSS feeds. I depend on RSS to check up on y'all. Since I spend way too much time with the boyfriend I need RSS to cut down my reading time. Thinking that Yahoo has screwed me one more time I decided to try Firefox. I went to each blog that I read (there is a shit load of them I'm here to tell ya)and did the RSS thing. Great! I'm set, right? Wrong! It doesn't highlight the ones with new posts. Now what? Because you know you can't count on Blogroll. I suspect I'll be working on this all next week. UGH!
On to the next post regarding the Blogger Halloween party on friday.

I don't know what others are bringing yet. But a good time will be had by all.
Don't be shy. If you haven't come to a blogger meet before don't let that stop you. Email me for questions, maybe even answers!
Thanks Janet!
Janet fixed me up. My hair is no longer gray! I received many compliments tonight at the wedding we attended. I danced till my feet couldn't take anymore. Beautiful wedding! One down & one more to go. Next Saturday, Theresa Garza & Genaro Ruiz are getting married. It also should be fun. We will know more people at this one.
I did go by the costume place 119th & Metcalf. OMG! If you need a costume go check it out.
It's almost 2am & I'm heading to bed.

Witchy woman!
You Are a Witch (or Warlock) |
You are deviously brilliant and a perfect manipulator. You somehow always end up getting what you want - without anyone knowing you're working behind the scenes. Crafty and cunning, you can work your way out of any jam. And it's easy for you to get people to do what you want, whether you're working for good or evil. Your greatest power: Mind control Your greatest weakness: Making people your puppets You play well with: Ghosts I wish! "Mind control"! HA! hhahhahhahahahh! "Making people your puppets"! Ha! Puppet my ass! |

Fuck me running!
This last Sunday at church, during the sign of Peace, the older woman in the pew in front of me asked me a question. "Where's your good looking son?"
Fuck me running, I'm thinking. But I kindly respond:"I don't have a good looking son, but I do have a good looking husband."
Today, at the cheap hair salon, a young (maybe 6 years old) girl asks me this: "Is that your kid?"
I said: "No, that's my husband."
She then asks: "How do you do that?"
Once again, I'm thinking: fuck me running. I respond with "I don't quite know how to answer that."
She then says: "Where did you get him?"
Get him? I'm thinking. "Columbia, remember that. It's a good place to get husbands. Get them young."
Her brother, maybe a year older, who had been silent until now, speaks up and says: "Why?"
"So you can train them."
At that point their Mom says:"That's a good idea."
"Listen to your Mom kids, she's smart".
At that point the hubby's haircut was done. And we got the Hell out of there. Of course, he was laughing his ass off while I recounted this whole episode.
This week, I've been fucked by the elderly & the young.
I used to love my gray. Now, I'm seriously thinking of dying my hair. If I don't like that then I'm buzzing it. And IF I do color my hair I will NOT being doing this! You know what they say: In the dark all cats are black!

My husband has no willpower!
I spent Saturday with some girlfriends. We hit the John Knox Village craft show in Lee's Summit, a yarn sale on the Independence square, pizza at Square Pizza also just off the square, later stopped for drinks at Hereford House still in Independence. We had a great time. On my way home I called the hubby to tell him to get rid of the blonds since I would be home soon. He had spent the rainy day with both dogs keeping him company, while he read 120 pages of history book for class. He also goofed off checking blogs, and watching Battlestar Galatica the mini series. Now remember, he has been on a self imposed new eating lifestyle (diet). I went to throw something away & found a whole empty Pringles can. I couldn't resist teasing him. His response was that he needed me to be here to keep him on the straight & narrow. Thank God there wasn't any blonds here!

Anouncing a new Blog!
The Hubby has started a non political blog, Beneath the Ginko. Check it out. Don't give him any shit about the spelling that was all my mistake since I did the set up for him. Maybe that's how we spell it in Canada... you know honor, honour, color, colour, humor, humour. He's so easy going, he said to leave it & not to worry about it.

Blogger Gathering Oct 4th 2007
If you weren't there you missed a great time. I won't go into much detail and will let those that showed up post comments. I will list all that were present. Go to their blogs read what they have to say. They are smart, funny, sarcastic, and honest. I'm sure I could add to that.

And fun was had by all. Total of 21!!!!
Oh yea, I remember being compared of to Mrs. Moneypenny since I've taken on the organization of the gatherings & the master email list.
Also, we got confirmation of our (blogger) Halloween costume party. The date is Oct 26th. We are not posting the address. If you are on the email list you will be getting an email that you will need to RSVP to. I will then send you the address. It is not at my house! I am only the clearing house for the event. It is at the home of a blogger, who's family doesn't want all of KC to show up. (Well, we all know Tony won't show up.) If you aren't on the email list, and are interested email me. Now start thinking of costumes.
The reason, beside it being late Thursday night, that this didn't get posted, was I created a new blog for the hubby. It's going to be a life in general (non political) blog. I need to work on the header.
Great seeing all of you!

Lunch with Hillary
The hubby just received a call (sorry, we're sworn to secrecy) offering him a ticket( free!!!) to lunch with Hillary Clinton this Friday. As often as politics can suck, there are times (a few times) when it can be rewarding. The secret service will be doing a check on him. Damn, I would love to read what they come up with. You know, he used to belong to the largest private army in the country. Oh sorry, that's right you don't know. The SCA, Society for Creative Anachronism, is a medieval reenactment group. Yup, that's right. He can swing a sword too!
Just in case you would like to go also: The Oct. 5 event will be at noon at the Hilton President Kansas City, 1329 Baltimore Ave. For tickets, call Kohn at 816-374-3216. Tickets are $500 per person, with the VIP event costing $2,300 per couple.
Oh ya, I forgot to tell you, I won't be going. Guess my political connections just aren't as good.
