Why do you blog?

This is the comment I left over at Blog(a)gory:

When I started reading blogs I didn't have a profile & was commenting under anonymous. I didn't think that was fair to bloggers. They may be baring their souls to me & they didn't even know from one anonymous to another who I was. So I decided to create a pseudonym/profile. Once I got that far it was a small just to create my own blog. It has improved my English writing skills. But what has kept me going is the community that I have become part of. I have met every single blogger in my "Local Kansas City Area Bloggers". We have been gathering usually about once a month since April 17th 2007. You are welcome to join us.

Why do you?

Hmmm...that's a good question. I guess I started Oggi! Today! because Cara thought I should start a blog, and I had plenty to talk about and it seemed like a good way to keep family connected to me. With Scribblings from Sarajevo, the intent was to keep friends and family involved in my life, even though I'm no longer in KC. I can also brag about my pictures without coming right out and saying, "Hey, check out these awesome pictures I took because I know how to wield a camera!" ;)

...so the judge said:

"you can either do 60 days in county, join the service or start a blog."

i've been in a county lockup before; i've shot toward as well as have been shot at; never did a blog before.

and the jackass didn't tell me what i had to write: bet the silly old bugger meant me to write something 'inspiring'. too bad he didn't say so.

Melinda- It's so good to stay in touch with others like this when you're so far away.

XO- But not as bad as TKC!

Feds- and you were in front of the judge because?

I've always loved writing and I wanted to write in English better, so I started... then I got addicted to the mental deadline for a post, the blog tweaking thing, designing, researching etc.

I feel like a journalist and I love it !

I started my first blog as a placeholder for notes for a thing that I was writing for a thing. It was password-protected and I had about 10-20 people who started following it for whatever reason.

I killed that one, took off the password and now I have 3-5 people who follow my blog for whatever reason.

Go figure.
