Proverbs

Proverb from Afghanistan: Don't show me the palm tree, show me the dates. Don't you wonder what tha F... they were thinking with this one. I know what it makes me think. LOL!

***************************************************

After all is said and done, more is said than done. Ain't that the truth!

I think it means don't tell me what you intend to do (the potential of the tree), but show me what you have done (the reality of the fruit).

No idea what it means, but I studied Wenyan (ancient Chinese) and the text were all in Changyu, weird proverbs like that !

Headache. Big headache. :D

I need to get my head out of the gutter.

I like your head squarely in the gutter. I think it should stay there. ;)

Actually, this proverb is related to the general horniness of Afghan men. You see, in Afghan culture, "palm tree" is a euphemism for male masturbation (using the palm of your hand, get it)?

So when he says, "I'm not interested in a "palm tree," I'm interested in a date" What he means is that he wants to go out on a date with you in hopes of getting under your burkha rather than staying at home and "oiling his rifle" if you know what I mean.
