I'm so glad that's over!

No good deed goes unpunished. Remember that! I nominated a friend from work for an award. She deserves it. No question. She contacted me & told me that she would receive the award and that I had to introduce her at the faculty supper. So tonight I had to stand in front of at least 100 to 150 people. Mostly professors who speak in front of people all the time and have for decades. I was so nervous!!!! But I was told that I did well. She got a nice plaque and a check for $250. So just before they called my name I look down & my name tag is gone. Oh well no big deal. Call my name I stand up and take two steps in the direction of the podium & find my name tag. There sticking out from under one of my high heels. I stop reach down pull it off take 2 steps back to my table & hand it to someone there as it is now sticking to my hand. Argh! That did break a bit of my tension. All in all a nice evening, a beer, a nice meal, visit with good people. I'm so glad that's over.

Oh Jeez, I hate public speaking. Everyone assumes that because I used to sing semi-professionally, that I have NO problem w/public speaking. QUITE the contrary...I can get up there and sing ALL DAY...as soon as I go to talk, I get all stupid and stumble over my words...It's NOT EASY.

I've actually read at church inFrench (mass of the Holy Spirit with many other languages)and did a presentation about growing up in Quebec in French for French students & teachers. My French pronunciation is much better than most English speaking person's french. But then my English sucks I feel.
