This is nothing new. Overzealous supporters (of both parties) have been doing this for years. I just attribute it to people getting emotionally invested in a cause and not thinking clearly.I recommend you gather a lot of examples and take it to one of the local TV stations. They eat this shit up with a spoon in an election year.
They weren't stolen The city had them removed because the were considered graffiti.LMAO!!!
Stealing bumperstickers and yard signs?! Srsly? What ever happened to free speech? Childish. Very childish. I agree with Nuke. This election seems like the most emotional/fervent of any that I can remember in my life...
I'm seriously thinking of taking a bed sheet & making a banner.
I house not far from where I live had about 5-6 Obama yard signs stolen. The next day, they crafted replacement signs that said something to the effect of "Someone stole our Obama signs. NOT good PR for Republicans".We live in Redneck Central. It's almost expected behavior here...
It's just cheap...
Wait, Heather? Your neighbors had 6 Obama signs in their yard at once? Um, huh? Why?Anyway, like Nuke said, this isn't a new thing. This has been happening during elections since I was a kid growing up in Whittier. Who's to say it isn't being done in most cases by obnoxious and bored teenagers? Or maybe even dems that then report them as stolen, just to make the other side look bad? (Not that I'm saying this is what's going on...just trying to give some other possibilities...)Also, people shouldn't put bumper stickers on their cars...EVER. Show your support some other way...don't deface your own property by sticking something sticky to it! GAH!
Try putting your Obama stickers on top of the McCain stickers on other people's cars- then those car owners have to peel their own McCain sticker off in order to get the Obama one off.Ok- trust me, I do NOT resort to this sort of behavior- I consider it infantile- however, I do find humor in the stupid ugly. I wish I knew what goes on inside a person's head when they do stuff like this. I can almost hear a Beavis and Butthead laughing in the background.
I was going to admit to putting Obama stickers on McCain signs but then I read Rocha's comment and now choose to condemn such behaviour.Damn kids.I don't have a problem with any candidate's yard sign. Anyone simple enough to be swayed by a yard sign will have accidentally locked themselves in portable toilet on election day anyway and is of little consequence.
We finally put our Obama sign out this last week & it's still there! I think it just shows how desperate they are.
Ok, again, this isn't new behavior. Assholes have been pulling stupid stunts like this since yard signs first began. And it goes both ways, srsly.I wouldn't call the act of removing a sign from someone's yard "desperation" anyway. I'd call it silly and childish, but not desperate. Your sign isn't going to change someone's mind and make them wanna vote for Obama. It's just going to let them know that someone who lives in your house is rooting for him. That's all.
I not about to say that this behavior does not exist, but I recently read an article that states that up to 75% of missing yard signs are actually removed by the city code enforcement personnel. It seems that in some areas if you place a sign too close to the street, have multiple signs or an oversized sign they may be removed. Policies differ by city.
Anon-Knowing that we planted our sign far enough back to avoid the city taking it. We waited late in the campaign to put our Obama sign. It was STOLEN last Saturday night. Assholes! They left all the white Democrats' signs.
Stealing signs! That'll show em'!
Winning will show them!Still haven't caught up on my sleep, twitter or reading the blogs. My laptop gave it's life for the campaign. It's dead Jim! So I'm checking on a Mac.
