Please help us find our stolen trailer. It is a 6′ x 12′ white Atlas trailer with a side door and fold/drop down back door. Our PA system and merchandise was in the trailer at the time it was stolen. It was stolen out of the Eclipse Bar & Grill parking lot in Raytown, MO.

I just heard about a horrible GOP bill that could redefine rape and
set women's rights back by decades.

Here's the deal: Right now, federal dollars can't be used for abortion
except in cases of rape, incest, or when the woman's life is in danger.
But the bill, introduced by Republican congressman Chris Smith, would
narrow that use to "cases of 'forcible' rape but not statutory or coerced
rape."

As far too many women know, bruises and broken bones do not define rape -
a lack of consent does. This bill is scary - so I signed a petition
telling Congress to stand up and oppose the bill. Can you join me at the

Republicans have tried to blame President Obama for all their mess. But I remember! If you've ever had any debt you know it takes you longer to get out of debt than it did to get you in. If you decide that you are going to take your lunch to work instead of buying it then you have to buy your supplies usually up front. So you had to spend some to save a lot. Funny how the government does that, and the Republicans want to the current government for ALL of the debt. The debt that came under their watch, when they had a hold of the checkbook. But I remember! Am going to vote to give them the checkbook back? Oh Hellz NO! And their buddies who got rich off us, from our taxes, such as Halliburton. Well, do I even have to remind you of the mess they've had their hands in? I'll mention just a few: in recent news the deal with the concrete & THE oil spill (death and destruction of workers & wildlife, loss of jobs in the coastal areas), have you forgotten about the soldiers being electrocuted in the Halliburton showers in the Middles East? Have you forgotten? But I remember.

This post started out as a comment on Logtar 's blog post Colombia or Chicago home? I decided to flesh it out more & post it here since I haven't really sat down & written something personal in a while. Life has been busy. And that's fine with me. I'm not going to take on any guilt for having a life.

Logtar, I know how you feel, I think. Canada will always be home, the home of my youth. I left in June 1975 after graduating from high school. Kansas City is the home of my adulthood. I've gone to school, worked, bought a house, made friends, good friends, lifelong friends. But I feel torn. Not complete, ever. I'm always missing something, someone. It can be something as small as a Coffee Crisp chocolate bar , or a standing on the end of the dock watching the Northern Lights with a loon crying in a distance, or as big as missing Christmas with my whole family. I've been like this since I was 5 years old & my parents divorced. I've spent part of the year in Canada & part in the USA, for thirteen years. Always missing a parent. I spent my young adulthood looking for love, to try to fill that empty spot in my heart/soul. I'm a very emotional person. I've been hurt many times. I may not be complete, but I'm more. I've had more experiences, more cultures, more languages. I persevered and still found my soulmate, my husband of 25 years. His parents are also divorced. He spent years living and moving all across the USA , even many years in Australia. I think one of the things that has bound us together is that he has had a somewhat similar life experience. The same for Logtar & Bea. Far from home they found each other. And there they found home.

Eva & Tina are looking for you! 21 month old Mantle Great Dane pups! These are Xander's sisters!!!

Eva weighs close to 140lb, and Tina is a petite 130 lb! Those are estimations. They are BIG girls! Both are spay, and up on all their shots. Tina has the continuous white the white stripe that goes all the way up between her eyes & ears. Eva's stripe is interrupted with black.
These girls are loving and loved. The current owner is moving in the fall. She is going to petition the city to be able to keep them. Maybe city hall will be compassionate. She would love to keep them both. But if the city says no... Then one or both would be looking for a forever home. I would take them in a heartbeat. The hubby even agreed. But we are at our limit already. I've volunteered to help find wonderful homes for them. We realize that they will probably have to be split.

They need a fenced yard and a comfy lap or couch!

Great with kids! But remember these are BIG dogs and they don't realize how big they are. That happy tail is at a small kids height. They would knock over a toddler so bigger kids would be better.

Can you say counter cruiser?

They have a heart that matches their size. These are loving, sweet girls. If you are interested in becoming a Dane parent please let me know.

I love taking photos but downloading them, sorting them, all that stuff, well, not my forte it seems right now. I had done a small photoshoot of a friend's dog. They didn't ask for me to do it, or pay for it. Harley is a great looking dog & it was fun. So I got those up.

There was this great wedding that we went to. I got those photos up. Congrats to Linda & Vince!

There also has been deer on the property. This little one was almost close enough to eat out of my hand!
Xander had to have a histiocytoma, a benign tumor. It was on his ear. Dr Beachner did a great job removing it. He's just about completely healed. So life is good, life is busy. I'm sure next month I'll have more photos to post.

After fending off hunger pains, I walked over to eat my burrito and found that it was room temperature on the floor near the fridge. We brought her home and buried her under the pussywillow. I put some yellow/orange daisies seeds above her. She loved everybody. Didn't matter if you were a person, cat, dog. Even a large Great Dane! She would purr and give you kisses. She would wash Xander's face when he would come and bug her. She had no fear and always was at the center of the party. She loved all the loving, petting, brushing she would get. At the end I got her to purr one last time even though she was miserable and in pain. She was a special kitty.

Jesuit to Embark on 5,000-mile Bike Trek for Poverty Awareness

Fr. Matt Ruhl, SJ, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Kansas City, Mo., will begin a 5000-mile bike ride on Memorial Day with 12 other riders that will wrap up on Labor Day in Key West.
Inspired after reading Catholic Charities USA Campaign to Reduce Poverty, Fr. Ruhl, decided to combine his passion for the poor with his passion for cycling to promote this innovative plan to reduce poverty and Cycling for Change was born.
During the 100-day challenge, the Cycling for Change team will stop in several places, including an Indian Reservation, a Louisiana prison, and a recovering area of New Orleans. Communities along the route will be encouraged to highlight local poverty issues and to raise funds to benefit local poverty-reducing programs. Fr. Ruhl also will say Mass along the way.

Please tell every dog or cat owner you know. Even if you don't have a pet, please pass this to those who do.
Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Target, Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other garden supply stores contains a lethal ingredient called 'Theobromine'. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks.
Over the weekend, the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. The dogs loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog (Calypso) decided the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk . Half way through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's web site, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."

Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

What's that song? Signs, signs every where signs. I told Carol to come back & haunt me, send me a sign. My dogwood tree that I planted years ago (2001) has never bloomed. The day Carol passed I noticed one white flower on it, just one, on the whole tree, just one! Not 20, 50, 10, 5, just 1! How weird is that? A twitter friend, @BonnieGlick, just donated a kidney. She had a tree bloom that had never bloomed. Wild eh?

Saturday, Carol's family had a memorial at Garozzo's in Lee's Summit. They had a slide show that made me cry the more I thought about her. Then her husband spoke and I cried again. I spoke to another of her many friends and started getting teary eyed again. On my way home I was driving down Colbern Rd & a huge turkey flew right in front of the car. I'm taking that as Carol's way of saying : Get your shit together, you turkey! I'll be watching for other signs. Knowing Carol she will do her best to let me know she's OK.

My brother was 21 years old when he died in a car accident. We were what you call Irish twins. He was 11 months younger than me. I've had 2 dreams of him. He could not talk to me in the dream because he was dead & I knew it. But he hung out with us. And had that crooked smile of his. That smile said it all. He was OK.

My family does have a weird history of seers, dreams, out of body experiences, that kind of stuff. I'm not afraid of my loved ones coming to me. I look forward to some kind of sign from one them. It gives me peace. It gives me joy.

I ordered a ring from LuShae Jewelry. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted. I was thinking earrings. Then there was ring that got my attention, Fleur De Lis Eternity Band. But the Faith ring called to me.

Nice website, easy to get around, lots of information but not gaudy or busy. I ordered on a Thursday night and it arrived on Tuesday. It was packed very well. The ring box is a very nice presentation. The ring is a beauty, White Gold Rhodium Bonded Eternity Ring with "Faith" in Black Enamel stamped on it. Some how I measured my finger wrong. I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.

For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some asshole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while.

An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10 a..m. Old guys always get up early to pee so what the hell. Besides, like I said, 'I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-bitch.

If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.

Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start up a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head.

These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way..

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple of million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons who know that their best years are already behind them.

How about recruiting Women over 50 ....in menopause! You think Men have attitudes! Ohhhhhh my God!
If nothing else, put them on border patrol.... They'll have it secured the first night!

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered – Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage – Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

As many of you already know we don't have kids. Two legged ones that is. Our cats ans dogs are it. We ave done many changes and improvements at our home because of them. Last year before we lost Willow February 2009 (OMD! Almost a year)we put in the "dog comfort patio" or the patio for short. Why we waited so long to do that I don't know. Probably $$$. Anyway, It's been great because it's so easy to clean. Not like the mud that was there. I use a plastic grocery bag pick up the poop put it in a lidded bucket. Once full the hubby takes it into the woods and distributes it to compost naturally. I sprinkle a bit of sand over the spot on the patio so that the dogs don't track any in the house.

Also this last year hubby built a wall in the attached garage creating a laundry room. He then installed a dog door in the laundry room to the patio. A few days after Christmas he installed a heated shop light. It keeps the room around 50-55F. I don't worry about the pipes in there any more. Well, maybe just not as much as before.

Hubby even installed 2 cameras in the laundry so that we can log in from a computer anywhere and check on the dogs in the laundry room. There are other cameras here, the outside dog pen for one.

We also created our own dog park. Trooper doesn't play well with others. We like to to give them zoomies (time in the park) when we come home after work, weather permitting. So you see that we love our animals and work to make life here good for all of us.

So today when hubby logged in at work to check on the dogs he could only see the dog door, not the other side of the room, Only one camera was working. So he needed to go home at lunch unplug them, say woowoo, plugged them back in. Hubby called me to say that my boy, Xander, was trouble today. When Xander got in he went and ate the cat food. At some point while the hubby was home Xander brought a frozen dog turd into the house and was gnawing on it. That is so gross!!! I swear to Dog I am not kissing him today! Or maybe even tomorrow. He has NEVER eaten dog poop before. Cat poop yes. I'm hoping he hasn't developed a taste for it. I must confess that it is partially my fault. It has been so cold that is has been near impossible to pick up the poop from the patio. Either it was too frozen to the patio bricks or it was too fresh. And then it snowed, and snowed. So tonight after getting home late & then watching Castle I took the snow shovel and shoveled snow & poop right over the fence into the yard. He can eye those frozen puppy pops from a cleared patio.

First let me say that Jack Gage on Main, KC, MO is a great place! The managers came by checked on us. The wait staff Mike & Mo were great. Food was very good. I had spatzle, very tasty. If course I had to copy the name from the menu. I was calling spakle, spitle. I've also had the grits on a previous occasion. I invite those who have been there to comment about what they had to eat. Destructo Dog!

Hubby is home burning a couple of vacation days building a new insulated dog house. Since it has to be big enough for a Great Dane he is having to build it on the spot where it will live. Which means the dogs can't be in the dog pen while he is doing the building. So Trooper & Xander are in the laundry room with the dog door out to the fenced "doggie comfort patio". I've shown you photos of the patio & the new dog door in previous posts. Anyways, the dogs can go in or out as they please. Most of the time today they were in so says the hubby. He had the gate to the pen open, NPR playing on the mini boom box, tools, extension cords, lumber all over the place. He has taken the old doghouse apart & salvaged what he could & has the new one's frame up. Tomorrow he puts the sides & roof on. He's really doing a good job. He has put insulation under the floor, and I think he's planning on putting some in the roof & walls. There are houses out there that aren't as well built as this doghouse will be. No joke!

All of this is just the foundation for what I really want to tell you. In my laundry room I had 3 black foam pads that were shaped like a puzzle piece on their edges. I had them in front of the washer, sink, and dryer. Notice I said had? Xander having been put in the laundry room with no toys had to find a way to entertain himself. No doubt Trooper found Xander entertaining. I bet the whole time Trooper was thinking: "He is in so much troubllleeee". LOL! Hubby called me when he took a lunch break. He discovered 2 of the foam pads destroyed. Little pieces of black foam all over the floor. Also, a runner that I had put down was torn up. I just hope he didn't swallow any of it. Hubby had to clean up the destruction but not before I logged into Log Me In & checked out the what the cameras in the laundryroom were showing. Yup! That's right hubby installed remote cameras in the laundryroom. We can see the dogs when they are in there or if anyone is ever crazy enough to try to break in by way of the dog door. And I say crazy because if you saw a dog door big enough for a Great Dane would you go through it not knowing what was on the other side?

Once given toys to play with this afternoon & this evening Xander didn't tear anything up! Yea! Progress!

On both our vehicles we have a bumper sticker that says: "It's all about the Dane". It's so true. And I'm not ashamed to say it. My hubby is the Heart of my Heart, Love of my Life. But Xander is the Laughter & Joy in my Life. I look at his face and it makes me smile. I don't think the hubby will be jealous because I think he feels the same way. How lucky are we? We have each other, and a wonderful home that we share with our 4 legged children. God bless us one and all!

Hmmm not what I planned, but then Life is like that.

This Saturday (3pm-5pm) Hubby & I will have Xander at the Spay Neuter KC clinic (59th & Troost, KC,MO). This event started out as a memorial to Willow. I wanted to raise dog food for SNKC 's Pet Outreach. Willow had been a rescue that was underfed. When SNKC first opened in this new location we donated in Willow's memory to the Outreach program. You will see on the wall there a paw shaped plaque with Willow's name. So bring some dog food & come meet Xander.

If you know me or the hubby you know how hard losing Willow to Osteosarcoma this last year has been. All though all the dogs we've had over the years have been special to us Willow was extra special. She really needed us. She was skin & bones when we got her. Maybe if the single mom who had her had been given help with dog food she would have been in better shape. This is your chance to make a difference to a hungry dog, in memory of our beloved Willow.

This started out with my friend @Thundabolt & I talking about the idea of an event to raise dog food. During this time I've become friends with @DVSGEM & have volunteered at @SNKC, who has a pet outreach program. Along comes @Banky who has this brilliant idea & creates @Volunteams. Hubby loves it & was glad that I brought some home. Since he stayed home to get homework done & to dog sit with Trooper who was sporting 4 drain tubes, and 3 rather big stitched up areas. Here you can see 2 of the drain tubes. he has 2 more on his other side.

Here's also a photo of him in one of the t-shirts (Kansas City Australian Rules Football) that he had to wear for the last week. Hubby used to play a few years back. I thought Trooper looked pretty studly in that. As did the hubby!

Oh yea, back to the Blogger/Tweeter Gathering. Not a big group but we all had fun non the less. I do enjoy the smaller groups because of the conversations. It's much easier to have them & to follow them when you are crammed around 2 tables. Most of us have know each other for years now. And even tho we may not see eye to eye of everything we still love to hang out and shoot the shit. I know that if one of them asked me to come by after work they needed help/or the talk I would be there. There's a camaraderie/respect that is there. It's not fake or put on. And that's a fact.

and a new attendee Mo Rage , nice guy no matter what an unnamed blogger says. Mo Rage is also known as Pflow. OMG! That makes me smile for many reasons. "And just ask your Dr for a script Pflow..." LOL! Really I think his name has something to do with his other blog ( Philanthropic Foundation for Lottery Winners). Check out his other one too KC Photog Blog. Very cool stuff!

Sorry I haven't posted this sooner but life has been busy. Home repairs, sick dogs, BBQ with other bloggers. All in all August has been a good month. And I'm planing a trip to Colorado to visit a good friend. I love Colorado in the Fall! That's a lie. I love Colorado in any season.

And September is just a day away. Hope you can make the next Gathering!
